Names of the letters of the Latin alphabet in English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Polish, and Czech

by Jakub Marian
Did you know that “iron” is pronounced as “I earn”, not as “I Ron”? Learn more about the most common pronunciation mistakes in English (PDF version).

I learn and speak several languages, but I tend to be quite unsure about the proper pronunciation of the names of the letters of the standard 26-letter Latin/English alphabet (which is what one needs to be able to read mathematical expressions in any language correctly).

For this reason, I have compiled a list of letter names in several languages. The names are written in IPA. Sometimes, I could not find any reliable source and had to rely on YouTube tutorials or my own guess based solely on orthography; this is especially true for Russian, so I would be grateful for any suggestions for possible corrections.
