Obesity is on the rise in Europe, which is a worrying trend, since obese people are several times more likely to develop heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer, and other diseases. The following map shows the percentage of adults (aged 18+) who are obese. It is based on the 2015 Report by WHO (page 102; data from 2014).
There are also gender-specific trends in obesity. The following map shows the difference between the percentage of obese women and the percentage of obese men. (More obese men = blue, more obese women = purple.)
